Clients ask what an outcall massage therapist brings more often than almost any other practical question, usually because they are wondering what they should buy. The answer is nothing, and the reason is structural. An outcall service owns no studio, no linen cupboard and no shower room. Every item a session uses has to arrive with the therapist and leave with her afterwards, which means the bag is not an accessory to the service. It is the service's premises, compressed to something a person can carry up a canal-house staircase.
What follows is the inventory, organised in the order the items come out. Details vary slightly between therapists and between formats, but the structure below holds for every booking made through the outcall service.
01 · The base layer
The first thing out of the bag is always fabric, before any oil is opened.
A sheet for the bed. Large enough to cover a double mattress, laid over your bedding or the hotel's. It does two jobs. It keeps oil off everything that belongs to you or to the hotel, and it gives the therapist a surface she knows is clean because she packed it herself.
Bath towels. Used for draping, for the edge of the bed, for drying after a rinse. Hotel towels and your own towels stay where they are.
A hand towel. Kept within reach during the session for her hands and for wiping excess oil.
Every piece of fabric is freshly laundered for every booking. None of it is reused between clients before it has been washed.
02 · Oils
Oil is the working material of most formats on the menu. The therapist carries it in closed bottles and warms it before it touches skin, because cold oil on a warm back is the fastest way to ruin the first minute of a session.
Two requests change what goes into the bag, and both must be made in the booking message rather than at the door. The first is allergies. Nut oils, almond above all, are common bases for massage blends, so a client with a nut allergy needs a nut-free bottle, and it has to go into the bag before she leaves. The second is fragrance. Scented oils suit some people and bother others; an unscented option is available if you ask.
03 · The extras for gel formats
Nuru and body-to-body sessions add two items that change the shape of the bag.
A waterproof sheet. Laid over the bed or on the floor, it contains the gel completely, so neither the mattress nor the carpet ever meets it. This is what makes a gel format possible in a hotel room or a rented flat without any risk to the furnishings.
Gel. Nuru gel is a clear, slippery, water-based material mixed with warm water to the right consistency. It is prepared on site, since it needs warm water from your tap, and that is one reason these formats need a working bathroom as well as a bed.
04 · The extras for soapy
A soapy massage is built around the shower, and its kit reflects that: soap for a rich lather, sponges, and extra towels for the transition from the bathroom back to the bed. The therapist also dries the bathroom floor with her own towels afterwards, so the room is left safe to walk on.
05 · Two therapists, two bags
When a four-hand or couples booking brings two therapists, each arrives with her own complete kit. That doubles the linen and towels, since two surfaces are covered for a couple, and it means neither therapist has to borrow from the other mid-session. Set-up takes a few minutes longer because of this; those minutes do not come out of the booked time.
06 · The phone
The therapist's phone is part of the kit in a practical sense. She uses it to text when she is close, to message if lifts, gates or a closed street slow her down, and to confirm she is at the right door. During the session it stays in her bag on silent.
07 · Payment
If you told the thread you will pay by card, she arrives equipped to take a card payment at the door. If you chose crypto, the details were agreed in the thread and she simply confirms the transfer has landed. Cash needs nothing from her side except the ability to make sensible change for larger notes.
08 · What an outcall therapist never brings
The list of absent items is as deliberate as the list of present ones.
- No massage table. Sessions are designed for the bed or floor you already have. A folding table does not fit most Amsterdam stairwells, turns an arrival into a delivery, and is noticed by everyone in a hotel lobby.
- No candles. Open flames beside warm oil and fabric are a poor combination. A dimmed lamp gives the same effect.
- No speaker. Music, if you want it, comes from your phone or the room's television.
- No alcohol. The therapist does not bring drinks and does not drink during a booking.
- No uniform and no branding. She arrives in ordinary street clothes with a plain bag. Nothing she carries identifies the service, which is why she crosses a hotel lobby or a residential stairwell without comment.
- No paperwork. No forms to sign, no invoice pad, no card reader receipts beyond what your bank sends you.
The set-up, in order
Clients sometimes wonder what the first few minutes look like once payment is settled. The unpacking follows a fixed order, and knowing it explains why a clear surface near the bed helps.
- The bag goes down on the chair or dresser you cleared.
- Her sheet goes over the bed, corners tucked, before anything else is opened.
- Towels are laid along the edge of the bed and one is kept folded within reach.
- The oil is warmed, and the bottle stands where it cannot be knocked over.
- For gel formats, the waterproof sheet replaces or covers the first one, and the gel is mixed with warm water in the bathroom.
- Her phone is silenced and returned to the bag.

That is intentional. A hotel doorman sees a guest with an overnight bag. A neighbour on the stairs sees a visitor with a holdall. Nothing about its size, colour or labelling suggests massage, and two therapists arriving for a four-hand booking look like two friends carrying weekend luggage.
09 · What leaves with her
Everything. Used sheets and towels go back into the bag, folded or bagged separately from clean items. Bottles close and go back in. The waterproof sheet is gathered with the gel inside it and packed. Nothing is left in your bin, your bathroom or your laundry basket. The only visible trace of the visit is a bed that has been lain on, and in a hotel even that gets remade in the morning by housekeeping.
10 · What your space still contributes
A short list, for completeness.
- Warmth. The one thing a bag cannot carry. Turn the heating up when the booking is confirmed.
- Hot water. For the rinse after gel and soap formats, and for mixing nuru gel.
- A surface. A chair or a clear spot on a dresser for the bag and a bottle.
- A door that closes. In a hotel, a do-not-disturb sign helps too.
- Your own music, optionally. Low volume, nothing with adverts between tracks.

Why the kit is standardised
A consistent kit protects three things. It protects your belongings, because oil and gel never touch them. It protects hygiene, because fresh linen and towels go on every surface the session uses. And it protects discretion, because a single plain bag reads as nothing to a doorman, a neighbour or a colleague in the corridor. A therapist who arrived with a table, a crate of supplies and a portable heater would be more comfortable to work with in theory and much worse to be visited by in practice.
