The age gate: twenty-one or over

The line is twenty-one or over. It applies to the person who books, to anyone else in the room, and to every name on the roster, at any hour and for any length of booking.

The gate

A notice appears when you first open the site and asks you to confirm, with a click, that you are twenty-one or over. Sending a booking message is a second statement: that the same holds for you and for anyone else who will be present.

At the door

At the door, she may ask to see photo identification. She glances at it and gives it back at once. Nothing is copied, scanned or photographed, and no detail from it is noted anywhere. If she cannot satisfy herself that everyone in the room is twenty-one or over, she leaves before the session starts, and the visit ends on the landing.

The roster

Every name on the roster is twenty-one or over as well. That single line is the whole statement about the therapists' ages.

Why this line

A line set above the usual one removes borderline cases. A therapist standing on a landing after midnight should not have to judge a face against a birthday. At twenty-one or over the margin is wide enough that doubt rarely comes up, and where it does, the decision about the room is hers.

Others at the address

A partner joining a couples booking must also be twenty-one or over. Say in the first message who will be present, so the booking describes the room she is walking into.

What the gate is not

It is not a formality to click past on the way to the profiles. Three moments carry the same line: the click on entering the site, the statement made by booking, and her right to ask at the door.
