The last morning of a trip is often the least relaxed. Bags need packing, rooms need emptying, and the train to the airport has a fixed departure. It is also, for some visitors, the one free window left in a busy stay. An outcall massage on checkout day is perfectly possible, as long as it is planned backwards from the time you must be out of the door. This article explains how.
Start from the checkout time
Most Amsterdam hotels expect guests out between eleven and noon, and many short-let flats set an earlier deadline, often ten or eleven. Work backwards from that time:
- Allow thirty minutes after the session for a shower and getting dressed.
- Allow another thirty for final packing and checking the room.
- Allow the session itself: one hour or ninety minutes.
- Allow a margin of fifteen minutes for anything that runs over.
With an eleven o'clock checkout and a one-hour session, that means a start around half past eight. For a ninety-minute session, eight o'clock. Morning bookings are available every day, because someone on the roster is free at every hour.
Outcall massage on checkout day: pack first
Do the bulk of the packing the evening before. A suitcase half-full on the floor and clothes spread over the chairs make the room feel crowded, and finding everything afterwards takes longer than you expect. Leave out only what you need for the morning: the clothes you will travel in, toiletries for one shower and your documents. Put the suitcase against a wall away from the bed. The session then takes place in a room that already looks like departure day, which in practice is calming rather than stressful.
Late checkout, if the hotel offers it
Many hotels will extend checkout by an hour or two if you ask the night before, sometimes free and sometimes for a fee. Short-let hosts are less flexible, because cleaners are booked for a fixed time. If you can get a later checkout, the whole morning becomes easier, and a later start time for the session is possible. Ask before you book the session, not after.
Oil, showers and travel clothes
Most formats use oil or gel, and you will want to rinse it off before you travel. Formats such as nuru or body-to-body end in the shower in any case. For bed-based formats, plan your own shower afterwards. Keep one clean towel of your own aside, because hotel housekeeping may already have been told you are leaving. Do not put on the clothes you will fly in until you have showered. The therapist takes her linen with her, so the bed is left as it was, apart from being slept in.
Deposits and a fixed departure
A morning booking made the evening before is usually less than 24 hours ahead, so it follows the same-day rules: a returning client's one or two hours are paid entirely at the door, and a first booking with the house is confirmed by a 50% deposit. A session booked earlier in the stay for your final morning, more than 24 hours ahead, is confirmed by a deposit whoever you are. If you cancel, what is kept depends on your notice, so be realistic about the timing; a flight moved to an earlier departure counts as a change on your side. Each clause is spelled out on the cancellation policy page.
Where you are staying matters
In a hotel, the morning arrival is straightforward: the lobby is busy with guests leaving, and the hotel's rules for visitors are the same as at any other hour. In a residential building, mornings bring neighbours heading to work and deliveries arriving, and the quiet-arrival advice in the home massage guide applies. On a houseboat, remember that the owner or the next guest may arrive early for the handover, so leave plenty of margin.
Paying before you travel
Settle the balance in the first minutes, before the session begins, in cash, by card or in crypto. If you are trying to use up the last euros in your wallet, cash is ideal; if you have already spent them, a card works just as well. Checkout day adds nothing to the fee for one client with one therapist. Once the balance is settled, the only thing left for the morning is the session itself, then a shower, a last check under the bed and the walk to the station.
